Attackers Flee, Eyewitnesses Describe Chaos
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers threw the device from the top of the flyover and fled immediately after the explosion. Police cordoned off the site to manage the ensuing panic and begin rescue operations. The blast occurred during peak hours when the market below the flyover was crowded, raising concerns about public safety in the area.
Police Confirm Details Of Blast
Deputy Commissioner of Ramna Division, MasudAlam, described the explosion as a “powerful cocktail blast” and confirmed that the victim had been seriously injured before dying shortly afterward. “He had come there to have tea when the explosive fell on his head,” Alam said.
The blast comes amid heightened unrest in Bangladesh following the killing of Inqilab Moncho Convenor Sharif Osman bin Hadi. Inqilab Moncho activists have demanded swift justice for Hadi’s death ahead of the 13th national elections and the forthcoming referendum. The ongoing tensions have already fueled protests and sporadic violence in Dhaka and other regions, exacerbating public concerns over security.
