Bangladesh Plane Crash: Panic and chaos gripped the Diabari area of Dhaka’s Uttara on Monday afternoon after a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) training aircraft crashed onto the campus of Milestone School and College, leaving a trail of destruction, fire, and fear. A harrowing video of the incident has gone viral, capturing a man engulfed in flames fleeing from the wreckage, as desperate parents searched for their children in the burning school grounds.

According to a release from the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR), the aircraft was an F-7 BGI model used for training and had taken off at 1:06 pm. Moments later, it crashed directly into the school compound, sparking a massive fire and widespread panic.

Crash Site: Milestone College Campus

The Fire Service and Civil Defence confirmed that the crash occurred within the Milestone College premises. 19 people were killed in the incident, while several others suffered serious injuries and were airlifted by a Bangladesh Air Force helicopter to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for emergency treatment.

Eyewitness videos show the terrifying aftermath, thick smoke billowing from the wreckage, flames licking the school walls, and people screaming in fear. In one particularly disturbing clip, a man is seen emerging from the fire, his body engulfed in flames as nearby crowds watch in horror, shouting and running in every direction. “People were running and screaming, it was like a war zone,” a witness told local media.

Massive Emergency Response Launched

Emergency response teams swiftly mobilised. Eight firefighting units from Uttara, Tongi, Pallabi, Kurmitola, Mirpur, and Purbachal were dispatched to the crash site. Two platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were also deployed to assist in the rescue operations and maintain order as anxious crowds gathered.

Dozens of parents rushed to the school, many in tears, pleading for news of their children. Some collapsed in grief, others stood praying outside the gates, their faces marked by panic and helplessness. “I’m not in a situation to speak… My son, who is a class-six student… he is still inside the compound. I don’t know what his situation is now!” a crying mother told UNB reporters at the site.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Meanwhile, authorities have cordoned off the area, and rescue operations are continuing.
