Johor violent attack: In a dramatic case that has gripped Malaysia and drawn attention far and wide, a 34-year-old Bangladeshi woman was arrested for allegedly cutting off her lover's genitals in a brutal showdown in Gelang Patah, Johor, last week.

The incident occurred on the morning of Wednesday, October 8, in Kampung Lokan when the woman found that her 33-year-old Bangladeshi lover was still married to his wife in Bangladesh. The news came after the lovers had been engaging in a romantic affair in Malaysia.

Woman Attacked With 29-cm Long Knife

Police reports suggest that the confrontation quickly escalated. With a 29-centimetre-long knife, the woman attacked the man, leaving him seriously hurt, including the complete amputation of his genitals and several wounds on his left hand. The victim was taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru immediately and is still receiving treatment.

Iskandar Puteri police chief ACP M Kumarasan said the attack was out of jealousy and betrayal. “Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect acted after discovering that her partner had not divorced his wife, despite maintaining a relationship in Malaysia,” Kumarasan explained. The suspect was arrested about two hours after the attack, at 12:15 pm, after a report was filed by a 47-year-old neighborhood friend of the victim. The knife that was used during the assault was also recovered by the police.

Legal Proceedings And Charges

The Bangladeshi woman, reportedly without valid immigration papers, has been remanded for five days, from October 9 to 13, for further investigation. She is charged under Section 326 of the Malaysian Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a weapon, punishable with a maximum term of 20 years' imprisonment and a fine.
