In a historic moment for the Hindu community in North America, the tallest idol of Lord Ram on the continent was inaugurated at the Hindu Heritage Centre in Mississauga, a city within the Greater Toronto Area. Standing at an impressive 51 feet, the statue was unveiled amidst the chants of Vedic hymns, bhajans, cultural performances, and the distribution of prasad, drawing thousands of devotees and dignitaries from across Canada.

The fiberglass statue, fabricated in Delhi, is supported by a steel superstructure designed to last at least a century. It is engineered to withstand wind speeds of up to 200 km/h, making it not just a spiritual landmark but also a feat of modern engineering. The project was led by Acharya Surinder Sharma Shastri Ji, who shared that the vision began nearly three years ago, inspired by the grand inauguration of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya’s Ram Janmabhoomi in January 2024.

“The statue is more than just a physical structure,” said Acharya Surinder. “It’s a symbol of Lord Ram’s ideals, truth, righteousness, and duty, brought to life in a modern multicultural society.”
