India-Canada Row: India and Canada witnessed rock-bottom in their bilateral relationship after both countries expelled each other's diplomats including the High Commissioners on Tuesday following a row over Canada's allegations against the Indian government. However, Prime Minister Trudeau's continued agenda against the world's largest democracy and fifth-largest economy is not finding many believers back home. Canadian experts, professionals, and even journalists are finding it hard to believe that Indian diplomats conspired with gangsters to kill Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Furthermore, the drastic downgrade in diplomatic ties with India is being seen as an attempt by the Trudeau administration to muster up Sikh votes in the upcoming general elections. Some in his own country see him as a 'habitual liar' and criticised his high-handed approach to India.
Daniel Bordman, a Canadian journalist lambasted Prime Minister Trudeau, saying he failed to provide compelling evidence to the public after escalating the tensions with India. He also pointed out that recent diplomatic fallout can cost Canada billions of dollars in trade.
"Justin Trudeau again fails to provide compelling evidence to the public after escalating the tensions with India. Diplomats have been expelled and we are still in the “trust me bro” phase.
This could end up costing Canada billions in trade. All to appease Jagmeet and the gang of Khalistani ministers, Bordman posted on X.

“Canadians who have watched Justin Trudeau and his entire cabinet embrace chaos and terrorism on our streets won’t believe he cares about Canadian safety. It is highly unlikely that they are being truthful on the India file,” (sic), Bordman wrote in a separate post.
Justin Trudeau is a habitual liar. He wants us to believe that there is massive plot from India to attack Canadians. As a former political prisoner of the Islamic Republic, I can differentiate between facts and state propaganda. For the last year, @JustinTrudeau and the RCMP have… pic.twitter.com/DGocpe3BfV

In another social media post, Bordman referred to Nijjar as a terrorist and took a jibe at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police's claims that Lawrence Bishnoi's gang was in cohort with the agents of the BJP government ruling India.
“Trudeau’s accusation against India has morphed from they were involved in the killing of one terrorist on Canadian soil, to the Indian government running an entire criminal network through Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang. A few problems: Bishnoi’s gang was just responsible for killing a key political ally of the ruling BJP and the man is in a f*cking Indian prison right now! (sic).
“There are elements within the Khalistani apparatus, they are all over this. The Khalistani elements are in full attack mode. They are taking this as a total victory and slamming India. The vast majority of Canadians are incredibly fed up with Trudeau’s government, they don’t see the media as credible. So many Canadians will just look at this, shrug their shoulders and probably even side with India.”
Faran Jeffery, Deputy Director of UK-based think tank ITCT, in an X post, termed Canada's Khalistan issue - an India vs separatists problem.
“Khalistanis are separatists. And they are not shy of acknowledging that. This is not a Modi vs Canada problem. This is an India vs separatist problem – and Trudeau’s govt is doing everything it can to establish that Canada is on the side of the separatists. This is not what allies do,” Jeffery wrote.
