Tech mogul Elon Musk has launched another scathing attack on the UK government, this time targeting Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the Rotherham sex scandal. Musk, known for his provocative remarks, called out the British establishment after Swedish journalist Peter Imanuelsen highlighted the lack of proper media coverage surrounding the scandal. In his online posts, Musk referred to the abuse as “genocidal rape”, underscoring the scale and severity of the crimes, which involved systemic sexual exploitation of young girls by grooming gangs in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

Musk’s criticism has primarily focused on Starmer's tenure as the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), accusing him of failing to prosecute those responsible for the abuse.

In a post on X, Musk said, "Starmer was complicit in the RAPE OF BRITAIN when he was head of Crown Prosecution for 6 years. Starmer must go and he must face charges for his complicity in the worst mass crime in the history of Britain.”

The Rotherham sex scandal, which came to light in 2014, revealed that over 1,400 girls were victims of grooming and sexual exploitation by gangs over a period of more than a decade. Musk’s remarks resurfaced following the UK government’s decision not to hold a public inquiry into the decades-long issue, despite ongoing calls for justice.

“Starmer must go. He is a national embarrassment,” Musk wrote on X.

The comments also coincide with recent remarks made by Jess Phillips, the UK’s home office minister, who rejected calls for an inquiry into child sexual exploitation in the Oldham region. Musk’s criticism of Starmer was further compounded by his suggestion that King Charles should dissolve parliament and call for a new election in response to the ongoing scandal.

The billionaire’s remarks have sparked sharp reactions across the UK political spectrum. Health secretary Wes Streeting quickly rebuked Musk, calling his comments “misjudged and certainly misinformed”. Despite the backlash, Musk has continued to speak out, claiming that the UK’s government and press have failed to adequately address the abuse and bring those responsible to justice.

What Are ‘Pakistani Rape Gangs’?

Pakistani rape gangs in the UK refer to grooming gangs, mainly consisting of men of Pakistani or South Asian descent, who sexually exploited young girls, particularly in northern towns like Rotherham, Rochdale, and Oxford. These gangs groomed vulnerable children, often offering gifts and manipulation before coercing them into sexual acts. Many victims were trafficked and abused by multiple men over extended periods.

Though most perpetrators were of Pakistani descent, the issue is controversial, with critics accusing authorities of inaction due to fears of racial profiling. High-profile cases, such as Rotherham, revealed that at least 1,400 girls were exploited between 1997 and 2013, leading to widespread outrage and calls for stronger action.
