Crew members of Swiss International Airlines (SWISS) are under scrutiny amid allegations of privacy violations after explicit footage of a couple engaging in a public sex act near the plane’s cockpit surfaced online. The incident, reportedly part of a mid-flight encounter, took place in November 2024 aboard flight LX181, a 12-hour journey from Bangkok, Thailand, to Zurich, Switzerland, according to the travel blog One Mile at a Time.
The leaked footage, which has drawn widespread attention, has sparked an internal investigation to determine how such a breach of passenger privacy occurred and whether crew members were involved in recording or disseminating the material.
During a late-November flight from Bangkok to Zurich, a couple was secretly filmed engaging in a sexual act in the forward galley of a Swiss Boeing 777-300, located near the First Class cabin. While the galley appeared empty, the area was under surveillance by closed-circuit cameras monitoring access to the cockpit.
The act was reportedly captured by a live-feed camera above the cockpit door, meant for pilot security. While the onboard cameras do not record, someone on the flight deck, likely a pilot or flight attendant, filmed the incident and added crude commentary, including explicit remarks, before leaking it.
SWISS Airlines Addresses Leaked Surveillance Video
According to a report by Daily Mail, the video was shared on WhatsApp and internal channels before being leaked to social media, sparking backlash. SWISS representatives condemned the privacy violation, with spokesperson Meike Fuhlrott stating that filming without consent and sharing such recordings breaches company guidelines and data protection laws.
“Filming people without their clear consent and sharing these recordings contradicts our guidelines and values and violates the applicable data protection regulations,” declared airline spokeswoman Meike Fuhlrott, the Daily Mail reported.

The recording violates SWISS's internal values and may breach Article 28 of the Swiss Civil Code, which requires consent for recording individuals in public spaces. Though not a criminal offence, the victims could pursue damages for privacy violations. While the airline criticised the crew for filming and sharing the video, it also condemned the passengers' "unacceptable" behaviour.
