United States President Donald Trump on Thursday asserted that the US has full control over the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that no ship can enter or leave without approval from the US Navy, emphasising that the waterway is effectively “sealed” until Iran agrees to a deal.

Trump Says US In Total Control Of Hormuz

In a post on Truth Social, Trump also claimed that Iran is facing internal confusion over its leadership. He claimed that there is ongoing infighting between hardliners and moderates and the hardliners have been losing “badly. He wrote, "Iran is having a very hard time figuring out who their leader is! They just don’t know! The infighting is between the “Hardliners,” who have been losing BADLY on the battlefield, and the “Moderates,” who are not very moderate at all (but gaining respect!), is CRAZY! We have total control over the Strait of Hormuz. No ship can enter or leave without the approval of the United States Navy. It is “Sealed up Tight,” until such time as Iran is able to make a DEAL!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter."

Trump Orders US Navy To Act Against Boats In Hormuz

In a separate post, Trump said that he has ordered the US Navy to take strict action against any small boats suspected of placing mines in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz. He warned that there should be “no hesitation” in dealing with such vessels. Trump’s statement came a day after he said the US Navy would continue its blockade of Iran’s ports and coastline until Tehran presents a “unified proposal.”

He further highlighted that US naval ships are already operating in the region. He claimed that the mine-clearing operations are underway. He added that he has also ordered the activity to be increased significantly to ensure the safety of the vital waterway.

Trump wrote, “I have ordered the United States Navy to shoot and kill any boat, small boats though they may be (Their naval ships are ALL, 159 of them, at the bottom of the sea!), that is putting mines in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz. There is to be no hesitation. Additionally, our mine “sweepers” are clearing the Strait right now. I am hereby ordering that activity to continue, but at a tripled up level! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi had called the US blockade of Iranian ports as an “act of war”. In a post on X, he wrote, “Blockading Iranian ports is an act of war and thus a violation of the ceasefire. Striking a commercial vessel and taking its crew hostage is an even greater violation. Iran knows how to neutralize restrictions, how to defend its interests, and how to resist bullying.”
