Ebrahim Raisi Death News: The bodies of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, his foreign minister and other officials who were killed in a helicopter crash were transported to Tabriz city in Iran on Monday. The head of the Islamic Republic Red Crescent Society (IRCS), Pir Hossein Kolivand, said that the large-scale search and rescue operation for Raisi and other officials concluded as their bodies were sent to a place in Iran's East Azarbaijan province where they will be buried. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, long seen as a successor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in a helicopter crash in mountainous terrain near the Azerbaijan border. The charred wreckage of the helicopter which crashed on Sunday carrying Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian was found early on Monday after an overnight search in blizzard conditions.

- Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei also confirmed First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber as interim head of the country's executive branch. Iran now has a maximum period of 50 days before a presidential election must be held to choose Raisi's successor. "Mokhber will manage the executive branch and is obliged to arrange with the heads of the legislative and judicial branches to elect a new president within a maximum of 50 days," he said.

- Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei announced five days of public mourning for President Ebrahim Raisi following his death in a helicopter crash. "I announce five days of public mourning and offer my condolences to the dear people of Iran," Khamenei said.

- The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi has lowered its flag to half-mast following the tragic deaths of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, the Foreign Minister, and other high-ranking officials in a helicopter crash.

- Israel was not involved in the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash that also killed several members of his entourage, an Israeli official told Reuters on Monday.

- Russian President Vladimir Putin, a long-standing ally of Iran, also offered his condolences and said that Ebrahim Raisi made an invaluable contribution to Russia-Iran relations. "Seyed Ebrahim Raisi was an outstanding politician whose entire life was devoted to serving the Motherland. As a true friend of Russia, he made an invaluable personal contribution to the development of good neighbourly relations between our countries and made great efforts to bring them to the level of strategic partnership," he said.

- Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, posted a tribute to Raisi. In a post on X, the Iranian leader posted a photo of him and Raisi with a brief message referring to Imam Reza, the eighth imam of Shia Islam and a revered figure in Iran.

- Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said, "As a colleague who personally witnessed his efforts for the peace of the Iranian people and our region during his time in power, I remember Mr. Raisi with respect and gratitude."

- External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar condoled the deaths of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian died in a helicopter crash in the country's mountainous northwest region. "Deeply shocked to hear of the passing away of Iran's President Dr Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister H. Amir-Abdollahian, in the helicopter crash. Recall my many meetings with them, most recently in January 2024. Our condolences to their families. We stand with the people of Iran at the time of this tragedy," Jaishankar said on X.

- Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said, "I had the honour of meeting President Raisi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly last November. "He exemplified a deep commitment to the welfare of his people and the dignity of his nation, which represents a proud and rich civilisation rooted in the principles of Islam. "His dedication to justice, peace, and the uplift of the ummah was truly inspiring. We committed ourselves to bolstering Malaysia-Iran relations, working together for the betterment of our peoples and the Muslim world. Our pledge will be fulfilled."

- Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni said, "I see in these hours that the Iranian authorities are crediting the thesis of the accident and not conspiracy theories. I do not see any changes in the internal order in Iran, we are in constant contact with our European and G7 allies because we are talking about an incident that is part of a particularly complex regional framework. I hope that the future Iranian leadership wants to commit itself to the stabilisation and pacification of the region."

- Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani said, "Sincere condolences to the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran...asking God Almighty for mercy and forgiveness for them and their families with patience and solace. "We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return."

- Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said, "The great Iranian nation will overcome this tragedy with customary courage. "Pakistan will observe a day of mourning and the flag will fly at half mast as a mark of respect for President Raisi and his companions and in solidarity with brotherly Iran."

The Islamic Republic Red Crescent Society (IRCS), engaged in the rescue efforts, on Monday announced that the dead bodies of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions are being transported to Tabriz, northwest Iran. The large-scale search and rescue operation ended as the dead bodies were sent to a place in East Azarbaijan province where the martyrs of Tabriz are buried, IRCS Head Pir Hossein Kolivand said, as quoted by IRNA.

- Israel, which shares tense relations with Iran, clarified that the country was not involved in the helicopter crash that led to the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and several members of his entourage. 

- Iraq Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani in a statement said, "With profound sadness and deep sorrow, we received the tragic news of the passing of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ibrahim Raisi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and their companions, due to the unfortunate plane crash incident in northern Iran. We extend our heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, and to the nation of Iran, its government and people. We express our solidarity with the brotherly Iranian people and the officials of the Islamic Republic during this painful tragedy."

- Hamas also expressed its "deepest condolences and solidarity" to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the Iranian government, and the Iranian people for "this immense loss." It praised the deceased Iranian leaders for supporting the Palestinian cause and resistance against Israel and expressed confidence that Iran's "deep-rooted institutions" will enable it to overcome "the repercussions of this great loss."

- Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, Head Of Yemen's Houthi said, "Our deepest condolences to the Iranian people, the Iranian leadership, and the families of President Raisi and the accompanying delegation on their reported martyrdom. We ask God to grant their families patience and solace. Verily we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. The Iranian people will remain adhering to the loyal leaders of their people, by God's will."

The crash comes as the Middle East remains unsettled by the Israel-Hamas war, during which Raisi under Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei launched an unprecedented drone-and-missile attack on Israel just last month.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his anguish over the demise of Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash. “Deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic demise of Dr. Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. His contribution to strengthening India-Iran bilateral relationship will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his family and the people of Iran. India stands with Iran in this time of sorrow,” he wrote on X.

- Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday condoled the death of Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi and said Indians stand with the people of Iran in this time of grief. "The Indian National Congress is anguished and dismayed by the passing away of Dr. Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, following the shocking tragedy. India-Iran relations span centuries marked by meaningful interactions. Every Indian joins in extending our heartfelt condolences to his family. In this time of grief, we stand with the people of Iran," the Congress president said.

- Iran's Red Crescent chief Pirhossein Koolivand said Raisi's helicopter was located and the team was moving towards it, adding that the situation was 'not good’

- Press TV said a Turkish drone, Akinci, located the wreckage of the helicopter

- Several Gulf countries expressed concern over the incident and offered help in the rescue operation

- Armed forces in Iran were mobilised after they received signals from the incident sites, which originated from both helicopter and the mobile phones of crew members

- The European Commission activated its satellite mapping service to aid search efforts following a request from Iran, according to the European Commissioner for Crisis Management

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his anguish over the incident. “Deeply concerned by reports regarding President Raisi’s helicopter flight today. We stand in solidarity with the Iranian people in this hour of distress, and pray for well being of the President and his entourage,” he said on X
