A man attacked a judge during a hearing on his sentence after the latter denied him probation on Wednesday. A video in this context has been making the rounds across social media platforms, where the man leapt over the bench in fury. As per a report in KLAS media, Deobra Redden was a three-time felon and was convicted of attempted battery with substantial bodily harm. He was being sentenced by Judge Mary Kay Holthus in Clark County District Court.
Redden’s attorney asks for probation for his client but the judge denied stating “It’s time he got a taste of something else.” It was only then that the enraged man jumped over the bench. He landed on the judge while toppling her chair and other stuff.

As per KVVU, the attacker got hurt but refused to go to the hospital. A marshal, however, got hurt while attempting to save the judge. He was admitted to the hospital and was reported stable.
“We commend the heroic acts of her staff, law enforcement, and all others who subdued the defendant. The court remains committed to a safe and secure courthouse and courtrooms. We are reviewing all our protocols and will do whatever is necessary to protect the judiciary, the public and our employees,” the Court Public Information Officer Mary Ann Price said about the incident in a release.
The incident came a month after a fight erupted between two families outside a courthouse in Mississippi. In October, a mother, with two of her family members, allegedly killed her daughter’s ‘murderer’ outside a Texas courtroom. She alleged the man was “laughing at my face” during an emotional testimony inside the courtroom.
