Global Travel Alerts Issued As Middle-East Simmers, Citizens Warned Against Travelling To Iran, Israel; Check Advisories

Middle-East Tensions: Iran’s capital Tehran was rocked by multiple explosions on Saturday, including blasts near the offices of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, following attacks by the United States and Israel. Strikes were also reported in other Iranian cities. Amid rising tensions, several countries have begun evacuating dependents of diplomatic staff and non-essential personnel, while issuing advisories urging citizens to avoid travel to Iran and Israel.

Australia

The Australian government on Wednesday asked its citizens to leave Iran “as soon as possible”.

"Regional tensions remain high and there continues to be a risk of military conflict. Do not travel to Iran due to the risk of arbitrary detention and the volatile regional security situation,” it added.

Australia’s Foreign Ministry has asked family members of its officials in Lebanon and Israel to depart the two countries. It has also made provisions for voluntary evacuations of dependents based in Jordan, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

United Kingdom

Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, the UK government updated its travel advisory on Saturday, advising against all travel to Israel and Palestine. The Foreign Office cited a worsening security situation as the reason for the warning. The UK has also pulled its diplomatic personnel out of Iran.

Canada

The government of Canada has advised avoiding all travel to Iran due to the risk of civil unrest, tensions in the region, the high risk of arbitrary detention and the unpredictable enforcement of local laws.

"The Iranian authorities have arrested and/or detained individuals, including foreign and dual nationals, to exert political or diplomatic influence on their governments. You should leave Iran now if you can do so safely. Some airlines have suspended flights to and from Iran. However commercial flights and overland crossing options remain available," the government website stated.

India

The Indian Embassy in Tehran on Saturday issued an urgent advisory cautioning its nationals to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary movement. In a post on X, the embassy stated: "All Indian nationals in Iran are advised to exercise utmost caution, avoid unnecessary movements, and remain indoors as far as possible."

Simultaneously, the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv issued a parallel advisory for Indian citizens residing in Israel. The embassy urged residents to "exercise utmost caution and remain vigilant at all times."

Germany

"The security situation in Iran and the entire region is extremely volatile and very tense. Further escalation and military clashes cannot be ruled out," the German embassy said on Friday.

"Further restrictions on air traffic, including flight cancellations and airspace closures, may occur at any time," it added.

United States

The US Embassy In Jerusalem stated, "In response to security incidents and without advance notice, the US Embassy may further restrict or prohibit US government employees and their family members from travelling to certain areas of Israel, the Old City of Jerusalem, and the West Bank. Persons may wish to consider leaving Israel while commercial flights are available."

The advisory also stated:

Do Not Travel To:

-Gaza due to terrorism and armed conflict and within 11.3 km/7 miles of the Gaza Periphery

-Northern Israel within 4 kilometres/2.5 miles of the Lebanese and Syrian borders due to continued military presence and activity

-The Egyptian border within 2.4km/1.5 miles, except for the Taba crossing, which is open

Finland

The Finnish foreign ministry advised citizens to avoid all travel to Iran and immediately leave Yemen and Libya in travel advisories updated in late February.

Serbia

The Serbian Foreign Ministry told its nationals in Iran to leave as soon as possible due to increased tensions and the risk of a deterioration of the security situation.

Singapore

The Singapore Foreign Ministry advised the citizens to continue to defer all travel to Iran.
