Will Apple Map Rename the Gulf of Mexico?
As of February 2025, Apple Maps continues to display the name "Gulf of Mexico" for the body of water bordered by the southern United States, Mexico, and Cuba. While an executive order issued by President Donald Trump in January 2025 directed the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to the 'Gulf of America.'
Apple has not yet implemented this change in its mapping service. However, if users search for "Gulf of America" within Apple Maps, the application redirects to the Gulf of Mexico, indicating some level of acknowledgment of the new designation.
