The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is facing fresh drone strikes as tensions escalate in the Middle East due to conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran. Amid this situation, police across the UAE have launched a crackdown on motorists using illegally modified cars and motorcycles.
How Modified Vehicles Are Causing Problem?
According to Khaleej Times, police in cities like Dubai and Sharjah have initiated action against motorists using customised or modified cars and bikes without legal permission. The step comes after residents reported late-night panic caused by sudden noises, resembling the sound of blasts. Some residents stated that the noise could be due to current security developments, triggering constant fear. They raised concern with authorities as Dubai has been a target of retaliatory strikes in the ongoing conflict.
Police Crackdown Against Motorists
However, authorities found that disturbances were caused by motorists who were either revving engines or using vehicles fitted with modified exhaust systems to produce explosive-like sounds in the neighbourhood. Easing tensions of the residents, police clarified that the sounds were linked to reckless driving and modified vehicles and is not related to any security threats. They assured that the country remains safe and secure as security officials continue to monitor all the developments. The authorities further noted that such actions are illegal and are classified as a serious disturbance to public peace.
Following this, police patrols have intensified in these areas with action against motorists using modified vehicles illegally. Authorities have deployed advanced monitoring systems and campaigns to solve the problem. The news outlet quoted, Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations at Dubai Police, as saying: “Our aim is to enhance road safety and ensure the comfort and tranquility of residents by addressing violations such as excessive vehicle noise and illegal modifications.”
