A series of alarming food safety incidents in China has sparked widespread concern among consumers and regulators. On October 13, a customer in Jilin province discovered three artificial teeth embedded in a sausage purchased from an outdoor stall, raising immediate questions about food handling practices.
On the same day, a woman in Dongguan, Guangdong province, reported that her father found two human teeth in dim sum at a branch of Sanjin Soup Dumplings, a well-known restaurant chain. She confirmed the teeth were not her father’s. The restaurant stated that all dumplings are supplied by its headquarters and promised an investigation into the incident.

China’s Food Safety Law
Under China’s Food Safety Law, companies producing or selling unsafe food must compensate consumers ten times the product price or three times their losses, with a minimum of 1,000 yuan. Following these incidents, the Shanghai Pudong New District market supervision department has launched an investigation.
