- Police intervened; waiter apologized for his derogatory remarks.
A verbal spat between Indian women over abusing their country forced a Bangladeshi waiter in Italy to apologise for the behaviour. In a viral video, an Indian Instagram influencer, named Khushi Dubey (who uses the username @khushicupcake5), posted a video showing her and her friends arguing with a waiter named Hossain at a restaurant in Italy. While they were paying the bill, the waiter became rude and threatened to call the police. The women immediately told him he could not talk to them so disrespectfully.
Argument escalates
The argument got worse when the waiter attacked their nationality, saying, "You carry (represent) your country badly." One of Khushi’s friends tried to talk back to him by saying, "We're from Bangladesh, that's why."
However, the waiter kept arguing and insulted India, saying, "You're from f***ing India." This made the group very angry. Khushi told her friends in Hindi to just pay him and leave before she lost her temper and slapped him.

Even though the situation was tense, the women refused to walk away without an apology. They called the police, and the video later shows them talking to the waiter in front of Italian police officers.

The waiter did not want to apologise at first, but Khushi stood her ground. She firmly demanded that he say exactly these words: "I am sorry for abusing India." Later, he said, “I am sorry for abusing India”.
While Indian tourists in Italy rarely face issues, Indian immigrants often encounter systemic discrimination, workplace exploitation, and negative stereotyping in housing and employment. Though overt physical violence is uncommon, verbal microaggressions and highly polarised experiences mean racism and xenophobia remain a valid concern.
