Iran on Monday said that it has received a two-step proposal for a temporary truce with Washington and that it has drafted a diplomatic response to it. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei also claimed that the US operation in Isfahan to extract the missing F-15E pilot was a deception aimed at stealing Uranium, in which the US failed.

While accusing the United States of targeting its nuclear assets, Tehran has said that it has finalised its set of demands based on its "interests" and "red lines", and will announce them at an appropriate time.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei said, "Based on our own interests and considerations, we have codified our demands." Baghaei added that Tehran would communicate its position to the United States and intermediaries when necessary.

The remarks came after Pakistan-led proposal, dubbed as Islamabad Accord, was sent to both Iran and the United States. The proposal provisions an immediate cessation of hostilities, along with reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Following this, the parties will take 15-20 days to chalk out terms of agreement to end the war completely through a broader agreement, according to a Reuters report.

On the US' 15-point plan, Baghaei described it as "extremely ambitious, unusual, and illogical", hinting thar Tehran is unlikely to accept the framework in its current form.

Baghaei also rejected speculations that Iran's engagement with mediators reflects its weakness. "Presenting our views quickly and clearly should not be considered a sign of surrender," he said.

Criticising the US operation in Isfahan, Baghaei claimed that it was aimed at its nuclear programme under the guise of military action.

He said it “cannot be ruled out" that the recent operation (to extract a missing pilot) was a deception which was actually aimed at stealing uranium, adding that the attempt had failed.

He called the operation "disaster" and an "embarrassment" for Washington, and said the US should "learn a lesson" from it.

"The area where the American pilot was claimed to be present in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province is a long way from the area where they attempted to land or wanted to land their forces in central Iran," Baqaei said.
