Iran Crisis: Amid the ongoing war between Iran and Israel-US, over a thousand Kashmiri students are stranded in Iran, leading to panic among the family members. Jammu and Kashmir Students' Association (JKSA) national convenor Nasir Khuehami stated that the students had come back to India following the protests in January. However, they had to return to Iran in February to participate in two compulsory exams scheduled in March. While the exams got cancelled due to the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the students are still stuck there.

While describing the situation, Faizan Nabi, a Kashmiri student who safely returned before the attacks began, stated that the exams were crucial to completing the degree. He further stated that it was a national story, adding that it could not be cancelled by a single university.

'Situation Is Scary'

"Many students were waiting to take this exam since these are crucial to complete the degree. They are national exams and not a matter of a single university. Therefore, it could not have been cancelled for a particular city and taken again," Nabi was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

Nabi further stated that he returned to India to celebrate Ramzan with family members, asserting that a war was not anticipated. "There was no sense of a war breaking out in Tehran, and I came home to be with my family in Ramzan," Nabi said. While acknowledging that the situation is scary in Tehran, he said that the Indian Embassy had helped Indian students during the crisis.

"From coordinating communication to overseeing our movement until we boarded our flight from Tehran airport, they handled everything with quiet efficiency and genuine concern," he stated. The family members of the stranded students have urged the authorities to take necessary steps to bring them back before the situation worsens.
