In a big setback for Pakistan, Iran on Monday denied any involvement in the Islamabad-led peace efforts, even as the country's Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar claimed to hold negotiations between Washington and Tehran soon.
In a post on social media platform X, the Consulate General of Iran in Mumbai cited the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Monday, saying that there have been no direct talks and only "excessive and unreasonable" demands passed through intermediaries.
Lashing out at the American diplomacy's unpredictability, the Consulate General said, "No direct US talks; only excessive, unreasonable demands via intermediaries. US 'diplomacy' flips constantly; our stance is clear."
In a firm statement to Pakistan, it stated, "Pakistan's forums are their own; we didn't participate. Regional calls to end the war are welcome, but remember who started it!"

Since the talks of negotiations were first announced by US President Donald Trump, Iran has firmly rejected them and has only acknowledged receiving a 15-point plan to cease hostilities.
According to Iranian parliament speaker Ghalibaf, the US is buying time on the pretext of peace talks to launch a ground invasion of the key Iranian territories, including Kharg Island.
In his latest remarks, Trump has also raised the possibility of seizing Iran's Kharg Island oil terminal in the Persian Gulf.

At present, 2,500 US Marines are already in the region and a same sized contingent is on its way.
