US-Iran War: The United States on Saturday struck 3 Iranian oil tankers after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted the US Navy warships. The development came hours after reports emerged that explosions occurred near Iran's Kharg Island, a key oil trading point of the war-torn country in the Gulf.

The US Central Command said American forces struck ‌three Iranian crude oil tankers on Saturday after Iran launched ballistic missiles at two US Navy ships. No American personnel were harmed, it added.

CENTCOM Destroys 3 IRGC Oil Tankers

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) released a statement, saying the US forces struck three Iranian crude oil carriers after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched ballistic missiles toward two U.S. Navy warships patrolling regional waters.

"A US aircraft carrier and guided-missile destroyer successfully evaded multiple unprovoked Iranian attacks. No American personnel were harmed," it added.

Iran's Strike Have Failed: US

The CENTCOM claimed that Iran's attacks failed. "CENTCOM permanently disabled the IRGC crude oil carriers M/T Downy off the coast of Kharg Island and M/T Stark 1 near Jask. American forces also completely destroyed the unladen crude oil carrier M/T Kylo (also known as the “Noxen”) in the Gulf of Oman, striking the vessel in multiple critical locations to render it inoperable after the crew was directed to abandon ship," the statement read.

'Multibillion-Dollar Shadow Network'

The three Iranian crude oil tankers are part of a multibillion-dollar shadow network that funds the IRGC and its regional proxies, it said, adding that Iran has no means by which to defend them.

“Let the message to the IRGC be clear: If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost —taking out three of yours,” said Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander. “We will not hesitate to defend American forces, and if necessary, destroy Iran’s limited and exposed oil fleet,” he added.

Iran Accuses US Of Targeting Tanker Near Kharg Island

Earlier in the day, Iran accused the US of attacking an Iranian tanker near Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf. The US did not immediately comment, but a new strike would raise the risk of sparking a new round of Iranian attacks on US allies and interests in the region.
