Iran on Friday said that the body of its senior commander, Abbas Nilforoushan, who was reportedly killed alongside Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon earlier this month, has been found.

In a statement issued through its official news outlet, Sepah News, the IRGC confirmed on Friday that Nilforoushan's body had been found after ongoing efforts by search teams, according to Xinhua news agency.

The IRGC extended condolences over the "martyrdom of the glorious general," indicating that his body would be transferred to Iran for funeral and burial ceremonies, with specific dates to be announced later.

Nilforoushan was killed on September 27 during a meeting with Nasrallah, coinciding with a large-scale targeted strike by Israel on Hezbollah's headquarters in Dahieh, a southern suburb of Beirut. Nasrallah and several senior Hezbollah leaders were also killed in the attack.

On October 1, the IRGC fired nearly 180 missiles at strategic targets in Israel, calling the attack a retaliation for the assassinations of Hamas Politburo Chief Ismail Haniyeh, Nasrallah, and Nilforoushan, as well as Israel's escalating "malicious acts" against Lebanon and Palestinian territories, which they claim are supported by the US.

Meanwhile, amid the ongoing war between Israel and Iran, the former on Wednesday said that the latter has become a force of destruction throughout the world using the oil and gas money it has, and the country is currently fighting for its life because its plans are failing consistently.

While speaking to ANI on the ongoing crisis in the West Asia, the Deputy Spokesperson of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alex Gandler said, "Iran is heavily involved in terror attacks in Lebanon as well as in Syria. It has become a force of destruction throughout the world using the oil and gas money that it has. It's fighting for its life at the moment because its plans are failing: Hamas has failed in Gaza, Hezbollah is failing in Lebanon, and the Houthis are failing in Yemen."

Gandler said that Tehran could have used its oil and gas to support and uplift its people, however, it rather chose to strengthen up proxies across the Middle East.

The Israeli government spokesperson said, "Iran is a failed state with a terrible economy with a nonfunctioning Army. They have a rocket system in order to shoot at us, but what they really have are proxies. They've building these proxies for years."

The Deputy spokesperson further claimed that there are multiple powers which are trying to attack Israel, and they are all controlled by Iran.
