Iran-US-Israel War: Amid the ongoing war between Iran and the allies of Israel and the US, China has asserted that no country has the right to dominate international laws, further urging to stop the military operation in Tehran. In its statement, Beijing called the killing of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, "a serious violation of Iran's sovereignty and security". While China referred to the international laws, the remarks were expected given strong ties between Beijing and Tehran, especially in recent years.
China And Iran Relations
As per the estimates, around 90 per cent of Iranian oil production is exported to China. However, a major portion of the trade was conducted through third countries to avoid the international sanctions on Tehran. Apart from this, the Iranian exports have been settled in the Chinese currency since April 2025, after Tehran was excluded from the international SWIFT payment system.
Beijing is in a hurry to stop this war, as the prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz will affect the business ties between the two nations. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi condemned the military operation of Israel and the US against the top brass of Iran. "China opposes any military strikes launched by Israel and the US against Iran," Wang said.

"Force cannot truly solve problems,” he warned. “It will instead create new ones and leave serious long-term consequences," he added.
Can China Benefit From The War?
With the US and Israel attacking Iran, China can use the opportunity to present itself as a saviour and follower of the international laws. Apart from this, by using US President Donald Trump's logic, Beijing could also launch an attack on Taiwan by claiming "self-defence". While Taiwan is a self-governed democratic island, China sees it as part of China and has vowed to bring the territory under its control.
