Israel-Hamas War: The Gaza Strip has been left in utter darkness as its sole power plant stopped operating due to a fuel shortage, the Gaza Energy Authority said on Wednesday. Following the unexpected attack by Hamas militants on Saturday, Israel retaliated by tightening the embargo on Gaza, cutting off its supply of food, water, and electricity.

The war between Israel and Palestine entered the fifth day on Wednesday in which over 3,000 people have been killed on both sides so far and it is expected to escalate further. Israeli airstrikes left entire neighbourhoods demolished on Wednesday, and hospitals in the Gaza Strip are struggling to treat the injured due to a shortage of medical supplies.

About Gaza Strip

Gaza Under Complete Seige

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Monday said he has ordered a "complete siege" of the Gaza Strip. "I have ordered a complete siege on the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed," Gallant said, as quoted by news agency ANI. "We are fighting human animals and we are acting accordingly," he added.

Nearly 200,000 People Leave Gaza

As Tel Aviv and Gaza continue to exchange deadly attacks, nearly 200,000 people have fled their homes in Gaza since the start of hostilities, the United Nations humanitarian office said on Tuesday. The Hamas group, which controls the Gaza Strips, launched an unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, crossing into southern Israel by land, sea, and air.
