Israel-Iran War Latest Update: Israeli military chief Lt Gen Herzi Halevi asserted on Monday that Israel would retaliate against Iran's recent missile strike, though details on the timing and method of response were not immediately provided. Speaking during a visit to the Nevatim air base, Halevi stated that Israel is discussing its options following the Iranian attack. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been in discussions with top officials to consider potential responses to Iran's assault, Times of Israel reported.
On early Sunday, Iran launched the first direct military strike against Israel using over 300 drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles. This was the first direct attack launched by Iran since the country's Islamic Revolution in 1979. The attack occurred shortly after a suspected Israeli airstrike in Syria, which resulted in the deaths of two Iranian generals.
Israel-Iran War: 99.99 % Of Projectiles Intercepted By Israel
Despite Iran's claim of success, Israel reports that 99% of the drones and missiles launched were intercepted, with assistance from allies such as the United States, Britain, and France. Nevertheless, concerns over potential regional escalation have led world leaders to urge Israel to exercise restraint.
In Washington, US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby refrained from commenting on Israel's response plans, stating that the US is not involved in Israel's decision-making process regarding potential retaliation.
“We are not involved in their decision-making process about a potential response,” Kirby said.
