Israel-Hezbollah War: Four Israeli soldiers were killed and more than 60 got injured in an attack from Hezbollah on Sunday. The Israeli military claimed that the strike was on an army base in the central-northern part of the country. The attack is claimed to be one of the deadliest since the war began in October last year.
In a statement, the Israeli military said, “Yesterday, a UAV launched by the Hezbollah terrorist organisation hit an army base adjacent to Binyamina.”
Hezbollah claimed that the attack was in retaliation for Israel's attack on Lebanon on Thursday, which killed 22 people and injured more than 117, the Lebanese ministry of health claimed. “Four IDF (army) soldiers were killed in the incident, and an additional seven were severely injured,” the group said. The militant group also claimed that they targeted the IDF's Golani Brigade, a unit that has been deployed in the southern part of Lebanon. Earlier, Hezbollah released a message from its late leader, Hassan Nasrallah, in which he urged its members to “defend your people, your family, your nation, your values, and your dignity,” CNN reported.
Hezbollah has warned Israel of more severe attacks if the attacks on Lebanon continue. “Promises the enemy that what it witnessed today in southern Haifa is nothing compared to what awaits it if it decides to continue its aggression against our noble and dear people,” said Hezbollah in a statement, quoted by news agency AFP.
The drone used by the Hezbollah is believed to be the MIRSAD-1, a UAV that the militant group has deployed for over two decades, as per the Jerusalem post. There are several queries regarding how Hezbollah managed to attack Israel in spite of its strong air defense systems.
The militant group is believed to have fired rockets toward the northern Israeli towns for the diversion. “These drones broke through Israel’s defense radars without detection and reached their target at the Golani Brigade’s training camp,” he claimed. The tension between Hezbollah and Israel escalated after the death of Hassan Nasrallah, the late chief of the group, in an air strike from Israel.
