Coldplay Kiss cam scandal: In a dramatic turn of events at US tech firm Astronomer, Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot has reportedly resigned days after the company’s former CEO Andy Byron stepped down amid an internal probe into their alleged relationship. Kristin Cabot, Astronomer's Human Resource head, found herself in the limelight after Andy Byron's video featuring her had gone viral on social media. The pair was caught in an apparent embrace on the ‘kiss cam’ during a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium near Boston, Massachusetts, on July 16. When the camera zoomed in, the couple ducked out of sight, leading Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin to make a joke on stage that they were "either having an affair or just very shy."
After the viral 'kiss cam' incident, Astronomer was subjected to high-profile online scrutiny and rumors surrounding an alleged office romance. On July 19, Andy Byron stepped down as CEO, following the board's decision to leave him on hold pending an in-house investigation just days earlier. “Astronomer’s Board of Directors has accepted Andy Byron’s resignation,” the company confirmed in an official statement. Company co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy has been appointed interim CEO while the search for a new chief executive continues.
Astronomer Confirms Kristin Cabot's Departure
TMZ, quoting a source from the company, was the first to break the story that Kristin Cabot has also resigned. "Kristin Cabot is no longer with Astronomer — she's resigned," the source said to the outlet. The company is said to have notified the BBC as well of her departure, even if an official announcement is still pending.
Kristin Cabot is an experienced HR executive who is best known for advocating for diversity and robust company cultures. A Gettysburg College Political Science alumnus, she is profiled on LinkedIn as an "influential leader and bold change agent." The reports indicate Cabot settled her divorce with Kenneth Thornby in 2022. The couple has at least one child. Cabot came on board at Astronomer as Chief People Officer in November 2024. She had spent more than two decades developing high-performing workplace cultures at Neo4j, ObserveIT, and Proofpoint. The now-infamous Coldplay kiss-cam video, which shows Byron with his arms wrapped around Cabot and their fingers intertwined, has clocked millions of views on social media platforms. Internet sleuths were quick to identify the pair, causing a wave of speculation that forced the company to act fast. Although the nature of their relationship is not revealed, the incident has raised eyebrows over professional behavior and company reputation.
