Six months after the Indian Army’s retaliatory Operation Sindoor, intelligence agencies have warned of a revived terror push by Pakistan-backed militant outfits in Jammu and Kashmir. According to a recent dossier, infiltration attempts, cross-border logistics, and reconnaissance activities have sharply increased since September, signalling a coordinated effort by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) to regroup and escalate violence.
According to a report by NDTV, a Lashkar unit led by a terrorist identified as Shamsher has been conducting aerial reconnaissance using drones along the Line of Control (LoC). These drones are reportedly being used to identify gaps in Indian defences. The increased use of drone surveillance marks a tactical shift in terror operations, combining low-cost technology with cross-border strategy.
Multiple groups, aided by Pakistan’s Special Services Group (SSG) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) operatives, have reportedly slipped into the Valley through traditional infiltration routes. Intelligence sources cited by NDTV fear that these militants are in advanced stages of planning assaults targeting security convoys, political workers, and soft civilian areas.
Redeployment Of Pakistan’s Border Action Teams
Border Action Teams (BATs), consisting of ex-SSG commandos and hardened terrorists, have been redeployed across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Their presence points to possible cross-border raids on Indian military posts. Officials describe this as one of the most systematic escalations since the run-up to Operation Sindoor.
High-Level Meetings In PoK
Intercepted communications suggest that senior members of Jamaat-e-Islami, Hizbul Mujahideen, and ISI officials met in PoK in October 2025. During these meetings, groups were reportedly instructed to avenge losses suffered during counter-terror operations. Plans include:
Reviving dormant sleeper cells
Issuing stipends to ex-commanders
Launching “retaliatory” attacks on security personnel
Internal Friction Within Terror Ranks
According to IANS, while Operation Sindoor weakened both Lashkar and Jaish, unfolding crises in Afghanistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have further agitated cadres. Many militants are questioning why Pakistan is fighting the Taliban and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) instead of focusing all resources against India and Western interests. Pakistan’s recent warmth toward the United States has also frustrated radical elements, who view Washington as an ideological enemy.
