After Donald Trump's historic victory in the US elections on Tuesday, a Russian state television channel congratulated Melania Trump, the future First Lady, in a controversial and unusual manner. During a live broadcast, the channel aired nude photographs of Melania, drawing attention to her past as a model before her marriage to Trump.

During the Russian edition of 60 Minutes, hosts Yevgeny Popov and Olga Skabeyeva discussed Donald Trump's re-election victory, but they controversially accompanied the news with photos from Melania Trump's modelling days. The images, including a well-known 2000 GQ magazine photo shoot, were shown to document her past career before becoming the First Lady.

As Popov spoke, the screen behind him displayed a clip of the Trumps at a rally, but it quickly switched to a nude image of Melania from a 2000 GQ photo shoot. Popov remarked, "Here’s how Melania looked in the year 2000" as the image appeared. The clip was shared on X by Julia Davis of Russian Media Monitor, sparking criticism over the inappropriate nature of the broadcast.

Popov further described images of Melania Trump in detail, mentioning her pose ‘on top of furs in a negligee’ and referencing additional images taken near and inside a private plane.

“The future first lady lies on top of furs in a negligee. Inside the magazine, Melania’s sexy photos near a private aeroplane and aboard a plane,” said Popov.

These nude photos, from a 2000 GQ shoot on Donald Trump's Boeing 727, were shown as part of the Russian TV program's segment on Trump’s election victory and Melania’s anticipated return to the White House.
