A peculiar discovery on Google Maps has ignited wild speculation about a hidden "Stargate" or teleportation device in Egypt’s desert. The structure, found roughly 25 miles south of the Giza pyramids, features a distinctive horseshoe-shaped design with another structure nestled between its two ends. Flanked by oddly shaped buildings, the site’s origins and purpose remain unclear, fueling theories ranging from military use to extraterrestrial connections.

A Google Maps user shared their findings on Reddit’s r/AlternativeHistory thread, posting a screenshot of the enigmatic site. Located precisely at coordinates 29°54'23"N 31°08'02"E, about five miles south of the Khufu Pyramid, the user questioned:

“What in the Stargate is this? [...] I can't find it labeled on any maps. Is anybody here familiar with this place?”

This revelation quickly gained traction, leading to a surge of speculation about the site's purpose.

Secret Bunker, Military Base, Or Something More?

Online discussions erupted with varying theories. Some users suggested that the complex is a high-security military base, with one commenting, “Probably an ammunition bunker for the military.” Others speculated it could be an anti-aircraft missile or radar installation.

However, skeptics dismissed these claims, with one remarking, “If this were in Nevada, I'd say it’s just some rich guy’s art project.”

Historical Speculation And Previous Sightings

This isn’t the first time the site has drawn attention. A similar image surfaced in 2005 on the website Virtual Globetrotting, where users debated whether it was part of an old SA-2 missile battery. Some experts at the time suggested that the raised mounds could have been used to elevate radar antennas for improved range, while the southern section of the site appeared to feature missile launchers, though no missiles were visible.

Earlier in 2024, another unusual structure was spotted via Google Maps at coordinates 34°24'21.6"N 107°05'44.5"W, near the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico. This disc-shaped structure, partially obscured by vegetation, appeared to contain metallic components, further fueling conspiracy theories about secretive operations and potential alien technology.
