Navitaire Global Outage Update: Airlines in India and several global regions, particularly across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Europe, experienced operational issues on Thursday morning due to an interim outage of Navitaire systems. The disruption briefly affected passenger processing services, including airport check-ins.

Impact At Delhi’s IGI Airport

At Indira Gandhi International Airport, check-in services were temporarily hampered, leading to minor departure delays. According to airport officials, the Navitaire server remained down between 6:45 am and 7:28 am.

The outage affected check-in counters for airlines such as Akasa Air, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Air India Express. Services were restored shortly afterward, and operations returned to normal.

Previous Technical Glitches

This is not the first instance of aviation systems facing disruption. In December last year, a technical malfunction linked to a third-party system impacted check-ins at multiple airports, prompting several airlines, including Air India, to issue travel advisories. The situation was resolved later the same day.

In November 2025, more than 400 domestic and international flights were delayed after a glitch in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) affected operations at IGI Airport. Airlines including Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet reported longer queues and slower passenger processing during the incident.

The fault in the IP-based AMSS system forced air traffic controllers to manually draft flight plans, a labor-intensive process that contributed to widespread delays. A review meeting chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), along with senior officials from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Air Navigation Services (ANS), was convened to address the issue.

What Is Navitaire?

Navitaire, a subsidiary of Amadeus IT Group, offers the “New Skies” digital passenger service system used by many low-cost and hybrid airlines for reservations, ticketing and airport operations.

The cloud-based platform integrates key airport functions, helping carriers manage bookings and streamline overall passenger processing.

Its GoNow suite supports departure control, self check-in, boarding and baggage tracking, while also enabling quick rebooking and seat changes during disruptions.

Additional features such as self-tagging for baggage and eGate-enabled automated boarding help cut queues and improve the travel experience.
