- Pakistan, Qatar offer new US-Iran peace proposal.
- Plan includes IAEA nuclear site inspection, frozen funds.
- US and Iran reportedly show positive response to plan.
Iran-US Conflict: Pakistan appears to be making another fragile attempt to broker peace between the United States and Iran after earlier mediation efforts failed to deliver a lasting result. Islamabad, along with Qatar, has presented a fresh “compromise proposal” aimed at preventing further escalation in the ongoing conflict and bringing both sides back to the negotiating table. The development comes as the conflict, which is now in its eighth month, shows no signs of easing as both sides continue to maintain their hardline positions.
Pakistan’s New Peace Proposal
According to The New Arab, the proposal was delivered to Iranian officials in Tehran on Tuesday by Pakistan’s army chief and Field Marshal Asim Munir. The plan has been described as a “middle-ground proposal” as it seeks limited concessions from both sides. The proposal reportedly includes a confidential, unannounced visit by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to inspect Iran’s nuclear sites. In return, the US would allow Iran to receive the interest earned on USD 6 billion in frozen Iranian funds held in Qatar.
US And Iran Back Proposal?
Reports suggest that Washington and Tehran have responded positively to the plan. However, it is also reported that the two sides have not fully agreed on their main demands. The US continues to insist that Iran dismantle its nuclear programme, while Tehran wants the immediate release of all its assets frozen abroad.

Qatari sources involved in the mediation told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that the proposal was designed to prevent further escalation and create a path back to negotiations. The sources added the plan had received Washington’s approval, while Iran’s consent had also been obtained earlier.
Pakistan And Qatar Step Up To Mediate
Pakistan and Qatar are working together to end the ongoing conflict and prevent a return to full-scale fighting. Both countries had also helped mediate a memorandum of understanding in June that briefly brought the conflict to a halt. However, the temporary ceasefire collapsed in July and no further negotiations have taken place since then. Meanwhile, Washington and Tehran have not officially confirmed the development or acknowledged the proposal.
