Vijay Event Cancelled: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay's public event in London got cancelled on Tuesday after the local authorities raised security concerns due to the overcrowding. The event was scheduled to take place outside Shard skyscraper, but was cancelled after the Metropolitan Police raised the concerns. In a post on X, TVK informed that the chief minister will not be able to meet the fans following a request from the local authorities.
Event Cancelled Over Security Concerns
The event was cancelled after hundreds of Vijay's fans gathered outside the venue to meet the actor-turned politician for the first time since his victory in the Tamil Nadu assembly polls. However, presence of a large crowd raised concerns among the security officials, leading to cancellation of the high-profile event. A member from the chief minister's team stated that the decision was taken after they could not get permission from the authorities.

What TVK Said?
TVK's IT department, hours after the cancellation of the event, informed that CM Vijay would not be able to meet the fans to maintain the law and order. "We would be filled with love and heartfelt enthusiasm to meet the Tamil Nadu chief minister Thiru C Joseph Vijay. However, keeping the safety of the public in mind and considering the request of the London Metropolitan Police, an unavoidable situation has arisen where the chief minister and victorious leader cannot meet with you," TVK's IT wing said in its post.
"Therefore, with affection, we kindly request that no one attempt to meet him. Furthermore, with humility, we request that you refrain from efforts such as waiting at the entrance of the hotel where the victorious leader is staying or along the route he will travel," it added.
CM Vijay is currently on a UK visit seeking investment for Tamil Nadu. Earlier, his office informed that the Vijay-led delegation had signed multiple memorandum of understanding.
