No Indian Killed In Iranian 'Projectile' Attack At Saudi Arabia Residential Area, Embassy In Riyadh Confirms

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh on Monday clarified that there was no Indian fatality in the Iranian military projectile attack at Al-Kharj Governorate in Saudi Arabia on Saturday evening. This comes after reports claimed that two foreign residents were killed, including one Indian and one Bangladeshi as civilian infrastructure across the Gulf region were targeted.

“It is a matter of relief that there has been no Indian fatality in the unfortunate incident at Al Kharj yesterday evening. The Embassy has been in touch with the concerned Saudi authorities regarding this issue. Counsellor (CW) Shri Y. Sabir visited Al Kharj last night and met the injured Indian national involved in this unfortunate incident. He is currently receiving treatment at a government hospital in Al Kharj,” the Indian Embassy in Riyadh posted on X.

The attack came as Iranian strikes continued across the Gulf nations. Bahrain accused Iran of damaging a desalination plant vital for drinking water supplies, raising fears over attacks on critical civilian infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Saudi Civil Defense informed that the two fatalities are of Bangladeshi nationality, while 12 others injured include 11 Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian.

Meanwhile, oil depots in Tehran were left burning after overnight strikes blamed on Israel, prompting environmental warnings for residents due to toxic smoke and possible air pollution, reported AP.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian vowed to intensify military retaliation against US interests in the region, warning that pressure on Iran would only strengthen its response.

The war, launched by airstrikes from Israel and the United States on Feb 28 that killed Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei, has already caused heavy casualties. Officials say at least 1,230 people have been killed in Iran, 397 in Lebanon and 11 in Israel so far.

The escalating conflict has also displaced hundreds of thousands in Lebanon following intensified Israeli strikes against the Iran-backed group Hezbollah, further widening the regional crisis.
