Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, North Korea has issued a scathing rebuke against Israel and its Western allies, labelling Israel a "cancer-like entity" that threatens peace and stability in the region. The statement, carried by North Korea’s state media outlet KCNA and cited by South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, comes as the conflict between Israel and Iran entered its seventh day.
A spokesperson from North Korea’s foreign ministry expressed "serious concern" over Israel’s ongoing military attacks on Iran, denouncing them as acts of aggression that could ignite a full-scale war. “The present grave situation witnessed by the world clearly proves that Israel, supported and patronised by the US and the West, is a cancer-like entity for the peace in the Middle East and a chief culprit of destroying global peace and security," the official said.
Calls Of Aggression And Sovereignty Violations
North Korea further condemned Israel for violating Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling it a “hideous act of aggression.” The spokesperson added, “The Zionists who brought a new war to the Middle East and the behind-the-scenes forces who zealously patronise and support them will be held totally responsible for destroying international peace and security.”
This statement comes as US President Donald Trump revealed that his "patience has already run out" with Iran, fueling speculation about potential American military involvement. Trump reportedly convened a high-level Situation Room meeting on Wednesday to evaluate US response options, though he has yet to announce a final decision.
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed on Thursday that they had launched strikes targeting Iran’s missile production facilities and other military infrastructure in Tehran and beyond. The air raids, which reportedly included strikes on residential areas, have led to panic in the Iranian capital, with residents fleeing for safety.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed activation of air defence systems over Tehran, maintaining that the country’s response remains defensive in nature. “Tehran’s actions are purely in self-defence,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who also emphasised Iran’s commitment to diplomacy despite ongoing threats. Yonhap reported that both Pyongyang and Tehran have supplied weapons to Russia in support of its ongoing conflict with Ukraine.
