Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday announced that his nation stands ready to be a part of an impartial, open, and reliable probe into the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals, including one Nepalese national.PM Sharif made the comments while speaking to a graduation ceremony at the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, following increasing diplomatic tension between India and Pakistan over the April 22 terror attack at the Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam. This was one of the deadliest attacks in Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370.

Pakistan Ready For 'Transparent Probe': Shehbaz Sharif

“The recent tragedy in Pahalgam is yet another example of this perpetual blame game, which must come to a grinding halt,” stated Prime Minister Sharif, calling for restraint. “Continuing with its role as a responsible country, Pakistan is open to participating in any neutral, transparent, and credible investigation,” he added. Sharif also emphasized that accusations must be backed by evidence and reiterated Islamabad’s stance of not encouraging any form of terrorism.

Pakistan Defence Minister Says 'India Using Attack for Domestic Politics'

Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, in an interview with The New York Times, accused India of exploiting the Pahalgam terror attack as a ruse to fuel tensions for local political motives. “We do not want this war to flare up, because a war in this region can be disastrous,” Asif said. He again offered Pakistan's willingness to cooperate with international inspectors and decried unilateral moves taken without a thorough investigation.

India Stands Firm In Action

India has accused Pakistan-based terror groups of masterminding the Pahalgam massacre, in which terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists. The attack has received strong condemnation from all over the country, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding "decisive action against cross-border terror".

In a robust counter, the Indian government has:
• Withdrawn all visas granted to Pakistani citizens
• Shut down the integrated check post on the Attari border
• Directed Pakistani nationals to exit India by May 1
• Lowered the number of personnel of the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi
• Suspended the Indus Waters Treaty on the grounds of breach of trust and national security reasons.
