Amid escalating tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, a video reportedly showing strikes on targets inside Pakistan has surfaced online. The release of the footage comes as cross-border fighting intensifies, with both sides making competing claims over battlefield gains and casualties.

The clip, shared on X, by news agency PTI, has been attributed to Afghanistan’s Taliban-led Defence Ministry. It claims to depict retaliatory military action amid the ongoing hostilities between the two neighbours.

What's In The Video?

The footage shows aerial and ground strikes conducted at night, with flashes of explosions visible across mountainous terrain. The targets are believed to be Pakistani military positions. However, the authenticity of the video and the exact locations could not be independently verified by The Daily Jagran.

Similarly, on Friday, visuals surfaed claiming that Afghanistan had shot down the prestigious F-16. While 'Afghanistan Defence' stated that it shot down the F-16, Pakistan did not address the claims. However, X's AI engine, Grok, clarified that the video is not real, adding that the wrong footage was used for propaganda.

Pakistan-Afghanistan Tensions

Fresh tensions escalated after Islamabad reportedly launched “Operation Ghazab lil-Haq” against the Taliban regime, following reports of Afghan strikes along the Durand Line, the 2,600-km frontier separating the two countries. Cities including Kabul, Kandahar and Paktia were reportedly targeted in Pakistani air and ground strikes, resulting in casualties and structural damage.

Pakistan said it carried out aerial bombardments across 29 locations in Afghanistan in what it described as an “immediate and effective response to aggression,” following what it alleged was a cross-border Afghan offensive. According to AFP, the bombardment marked Pakistan’s most extensive military action inside Afghanistan since the Taliban returned to power in 2021, with strikes reported in Kandahar, which is considered a Taliban stronghold. Meanwhile, the Taliban-led Afghan government claimed it had launched retaliatory attacks on Pakistani targets, inflicting massive damage.
