Pakistan Election Results 2024: The suspense over the Pakistan Election Results continued on Saturday with no clear winner emerging even after two days since polling was held in the country, which was marred by sporadic violence and suspension of mobile services. Although the two main political rivals -- Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan -- have claimed victory in their speeches on Saturday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has not yet announced the final poll results.

According to a report by Pakistan's Geo News, Nawaz Sharif in his victory speech has hinted towards forming a coalition government at the Centre and Punjab province with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), claiming that his Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has emerged as the single largest party in the poll results, even as the official results are still awaited. The report stated that PML-N leader Shehbaz Sharif also met Bilawal Bhutto and his father Asif Ali Zardari to discuss the roadmap for the coalition government.

Shehbaz Sharif has reportedly asked Bilawal Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari to sit with PML-N leaders to bring political stability to the country. The report further stated that both PPP and PML-N have agreed to form a coalition government. Both parties will soon finalise all matters regarding the power-sharing formula with mutual consultation, the report added.

It would be interesting to watch whether they would be loyal to the PTI or switch sides. Hectic political parleys are expected over the next few days, as both PML-N and PPP are likely to reach out to the independents and offer a share in government. Under election rules, the independents will have three days after official notification to join a party or they can also form a group or bloc, and retain their independence.
