A missile misfired by the Pakistan Army landed near a Gurudwara in a densely populated civilian area of Pakistan, causing widespread panic and drawing sharp criticism from the Indian government. The incident, which occurred during prayer hours, has been labelled a "diplomatic and social disaster" by the Indian government due to its proximity to a religious site and the potential for mass casualties.

According to a statement released by the Indian government, the misfired missile shattered windows and triggered fear among the local Sikh population. "This failure could have resulted in mass casualties as it struck during prayer hours. It is not only a technical failure but a diplomatic and social disaster," the statement read. India expressed concern over the repeated failures of Pakistan’s missile systems, citing poor targeting and guidance mechanisms. The statement further highlighted that the missile struck dangerously close to the Gurudwara, a sacred site for the Sikh minority, which has historically faced discrimination in Pakistan.

India Slams Pakistan Army’s Intentions

The Indian government further criticised Pakistan’s military leadership, accusing them of prioritising power over national defence. “Even Pakistani officials are stage playing to distract the public and remain relevant. Behind the drama is General Asim Munir, scripting a role for himself as a national saviour,” the Indian statement alleged.

It went on to accuse Pakistan’s military of relying on “Chinese-supplied scrap weapons, corrupt procurement, social media manipulation, and false flag operations.” India asserted that the Pakistan Army has devolved into a propaganda tool rather than a competent fighting force. "Pakistan’s greatest threat is not external; it’s the hollow army parading within," the statement concluded.

India Refutes False Allegations From Pakistan

Addressing a press conference, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, “Pakistani officials continue to make ludicrous claims about India firing missiles towards Shri Amritsar Sahib. These lame attempts to divide India are doomed to failure.” Misri also rejected Pakistan’s allegation that Indian missiles had struck Afghan territory. “It’s a totally frivolous allegation. The Afghan people are well aware of which country has repeatedly targeted civilian populations in Afghanistan over the past year and a half,” he said. He was joined at the press conference by Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Air Force Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, both of whom echoed the government’s position and condemned Pakistan’s attempts at misinformation.
