PM Modi G-7:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held bilateral meetings with the heads of state of France, the UK, and Ukraine on the sidelines of the G-7 summit in Italy's Apulia. PM Modi was seen sharing hugs with France's Emmanuel Macron and the UK's India-origin Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Notably, the Prime Minister is attending the 50th G-7 summit at the invitation of Italy's PM Giorgia Meloni.

In his meeting with his French counterpart, Macron, PM Modi discussed ways to bolster the bilateral partnership between the two nations. Both world leaders also discussed some of the key global and regional issues, reported ANI.

"The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the partnership, including in areas of defence, nuclear, space, education, climate action, digital public infrastructure, critical technologies, connectivity, and culture. They also exchanged views on key global and regional issues," the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said after the meeting.

PM Modi also met British PM Rishi Sunak and reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthen India-UK relations in his third term of the NDA government. Both leaders also reviewed the progress made on the crucial free trade agreement between the countries, PTI reported.

“It was a delight to meet PM @RishiSunak in Italy. I reiterated my commitment to further strengthen the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the third term of the NDA Government," PM Modi posted on X soon after their meeting.

“There is great scope to deepen ties in sectors like semiconductors, technology and trade. We also talked about further cementing ties in the defence sector,” he added.

While his discussion with his French and British counterparts revolved around the strengthening of bilateral relationships, PM Modi's meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky focused on assurance to Kyiv that India continues to encourage the peaceful resolution of the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.
