Rumours of a rift between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have resurfaced, with some suggesting the couple are leading increasingly separate lives. However, insiders say their relationship is built on a foundation of shared ambition, and divorce is far from likely.
Since stepping away from royal duties in January 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have redefined themselves in the public eye. They moved to North America, launched the Archewell Foundation, and signed lucrative contracts with Netflix and Spotify to tell their stories and support causes close to their hearts.
"No Signs of Divorce," Says Princess Diana’s Former Aide
Paul Burrell, a former Royal aide to Princess Diana, told Daily Mail’s Eden Confidential that he sees no evidence of a split on the horizon. “Despite the pressures on their marriage and lifestyle, I don’t see any signs of divorce. Harry would lose too much,” he said.
Burrell believes their union is held together by a mutual drive: “They have a common goal to make themselves as rich as possible, as quickly as possible. That balance seems to work — both for their brand and their marriage.”
Separate Projects, Shared Vision
While they pursue individual projects—Harry with Invictus and mental health work, Meghan with her new lifestyle brand As Ever—their goals align. Meghan’s upcoming Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, is expected to be a defining moment for her brand. Burrell sees it as a “make-or-break” point, saying, “She’ll have to reveal her hand in this poker game—because Harry already has.”
Challenges Ahead for Meghan’s Lifestyle Venture
Speaking to Prime Casino, Burrell warned that success in America’s crowded lifestyle market won't be easy: “America is filled with the best hosts. Whether Meghan’s good enough or not, the public will judge.”
Still, Meghan is charging forward with optimism. In her As Ever newsletter, she described her brand launch as a “pivotal moment,” and highlighted her packaging design, which doubles as keepsake boxes for storing love notes or mementos.
Brand Before Breakup? Power Couple Status Intact
Despite constant media scrutiny, Burrell believes the couple has struck a working balance. “They’ve found a balance that works for their brand and their relationship,” he said. A divorce, he added, would damage their public image and business prospects alike.
