The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Sunday held an emergency meeting to discuss the US attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. In this meeting, Russia, China and Pakistan unanimously demanded an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in the war-torn Middle East.
US President Donald Trump claimed that the US destroyed Iran's key nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. He said that this was the biggest military attack against the Islamic Republic since the Iranian Revolution in 1979.

Russia and China strongly condemned this attack. China's UN representative Fu Cong said peace cannot be ensured in the Middle East by using force and there is still a possibility of a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
Acting US Ambassador to the United Nations Dorothy Shea said that the US had to take decisive action now because Iran constantly tried to postpone the terms of the nuclear deal and avoid negotiations, adding that Iran cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapons.
On the other hand, Russian ambassador Vasily Nebenzya reminded of 2003 that just like Iraq was attacked on false pretexts, America is repeating the same story in the case of Iran, asserting that the US has not learned anything from history.
Iran had requested that this emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council be convened. Iran's UN ambassador Amir Saeed Irvani accused America and Israel of ‘ruining’ diplomatic efforts. He also accused them of turning the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) into a political weapon.

It is not yet clear when the United Nations Security Council will vote on this proposal. To pass the resolution, support of at least 9 member countries and no veto from the US, Russia, China, France or Britain is required. The resolution hasn’t named the US or Israel, but condemns the attacks on Iran.
