National Security Advisor Ajit Doval will visit China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting, which will be held in the neighbouring country. According to top government sources, India wants to use the opportunity to isolate Pakistan and gauge China’s stance on terrorism after the Pahalgam terror attack, News18 reported.
The visit of Doval aims to expose Pakistan’s double standards while testing China’s neutral attitude. According to sources quoted in the report, India’s key agenda at the summit is to confront Pakistan after a deadly terrorist attack.

It is anticipated that the summit may avoid taking a firm stand as it would not wish to upset Pakistan and China, which could lead to a diluted outcome. China is also expected to avoid taking a firm stand against Pakistan over terrorism, amid its attempt to normalise relations with India as it seeks flight operations between the two countries, the source was further quoted in the report.
Apart from this, India is also eyeing on institutionalisation of anti-terror measures using SCO’s Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS), the source added in the report.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to visit China to participate in a conclave at the SCO summit, marking the first trip by a senior Indian minister since the military standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh began in May 2020, which severely strained India-China ties.
New Delhi and Beijing are in the process of finalising Singh’s visit to China. The SCO Summit is scheduled to take place in Qingdao from June 25 to 27.
