Firms belonging to nations--Russia, India, China, Turkey and Switzerland-- were among those sanctioned by the US in a bid to isolate Russia further.
Ascend Aviation India Pvt. Ltd., Futrevo, Shreya Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd., and Mask Trans are the Indian firms hit by the economic sanctions, as per news agency Reuters.
“With India, we have been very direct and blunt with them about the concerns we have about what we see as sort of emerging trends in that country that we want to stop before they get too far down the road,” Reuters reported citing US State Department official.
These companies are accused of supplying defence equipment manufacturing items to Russia.
Indian firms have faced US sanctions before. In early October, India emerged as the second-largest supplier of restricted critical technologies to Russia, trailing only China.
