Moscow, Russia: A Russian actress-tv presenter was fined Ruble 50,000 by a Moscow court on Thursday for allegedly hosting an "almost naked" party, where she called for peace and negotiations amid the Russo-Ukraine war. The court said that her social media posts calling for peace with Ukraine discredited the military.

Anastasia Ivleeva, a 33-year-old TV show host and Russia's fifth highest Instagram earner sparked a huge public outcry when she hosted a party in December last year, encouraging guests to wear 'almost nothing,' AP reported. Her social media posts boasting of party photos went viral in Russian social media where traditionalists had lambasted the Russian actress.

Dress Code "Almost Naked"

Ivleeva sparked controversy when she hosted a party at a Moscow nightclub with invitations specifying a dress code of "almost naked." A popular rapper attended the event wearing only socks wrapped around his genitals and feet, reported AP.

The images of the guests were also widely circulated on Russian social media, unleashing a storm of sharp criticism from conservative lawmakers, bloggers and politicians. Many called the images unseemly, even unpatriotic, for a country marred with a bitter war.

The rapper, known by the stage name Vacio, was also penalised as he was sent to 25 days in jail for disorderly conduct and fined 200,000 Rubles (USD 22,000) for allegedly spreading "LGBTQ propaganda" in a video, for his 'lightly dressed' attire.

Ivleeva didn't show up for the non-criminal case where she was fined for two social media posts during the early days of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, calling for peace talks. Even though the law penalising remarks discrediting the military was passed after the posts, the court still found her guilty.

Russia's strike against dissent continues

Following the invasion that began on February 24, 2022, Russia clamped down on any form of criticism regarding what it terms as a "special military operation." In the harshest penalty to date, well-known opposition activist Vladimir Kara-Murza was given a 25-year prison sentence for delivering a speech in the United States condemning the war.
