Several people were killed on Tuesday morning after a train collided with a school bus at a level crossing in the Belgian town of Buggenhout. Belgium's Interior Minister, Bernard Quintin, confirmed the tragic incident and stated that four people have died, including two teenagers, the school bus driver, and another adult.
Belgium Minister Expresses Condolences
Extending his condolences to the victims, Quintin wrote on X, "With great dismay, I learned of the tragic accident in Buggenhout, where a school bus was struck by a train. My thoughts go out to the victims and their loved ones. I wish the injured much strength. Thank our emergency services for their swift response on site."

How Did The Accident Occur?
According to multiple reports, the crash occurred shortly after 8:00 am (local time) when a De Lijn minibus carrying seven children, a monitor, and a driver entered the crossing despite closed barriers and red warning lights. Images and videos circulating online from the scene show the heavily damaged train and the overturned school bus as emergency responders secure the areas.
