Sheikh Hasina, former Bangladesh Prime Minister, who was forced to flee her country due to civilian unrest, would not be able to fly to London for at least the next two days because of some 'uncertainties', PTI reported on Tuesday. She originally planned to leave for London to seek political asylum after a short stay in New Delhi, a plan which was put on hold, the news agency said, quoting people familiar with the matter.

India has assured help to the former Bangladesh Prime Minister after she was ousted from the country. At an all-party meeting, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that Sheikh Hasina was in shock after what went down on August 5. He further said that the government has given her time before she decides on her next course of action.

Sheikh Hasina landed on Hindon airbase on Monday in a Bangladesh military plane and she was moved to an 'undisclosed' location, the report stated. Although Hasina was expected to fly to London after her brief layover in Delhi, she will have to wait more in India, PTI reported. Hasina will have to look for other alternatives after she was indicated by the British government that she might not get protection against any possible investigation.

Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar told the Rajya Sabha about the situation and how India dealt with an immediate request from Bangladesh authorities.

"On 5th August, demonstrators converged in Dhaka despite the curfew. Our understanding is that after a meeting with leaders of the security establishment, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina decided to resign. At very short notice, she requested approval to come for the moment to India. We simultaneously received a request for flight clearance from Bangladesh authorities. She arrived yesterday evening in Delhi," he told the House.
