A disturbing incident involving a South Korean taxi driver and a Thai tourist has triggered widespread outrage across social media platforms in both South Korea and Thailand. The tourist, who remains unnamed, posted a video on June 19 showing the driver using a translation app to make inappropriate comments and suggestive advances during her ride.
According to reports, the woman was traveling to Seoul Station to catch a train to Busan when the driver began making intrusive and offensive remarks. Using a translation app to bridge the language gap, the driver reportedly asked her personal questions such as, “Do you have a boyfriend?” and “Why aren’t you married?”
The situation escalated when the driver allegedly said, “If you don’t have money for the fare, you can pay with your body,” according to a report by the South China Morning Post (SCMP). The woman documented the incident in a video, which quickly went viral, receiving over 660,000 likes and hundreds of comments, with many users expressing shock, anger, and disappointment.
A Terrifying Ride
In her video post, the tourist explained that the driver not only made inappropriate comments but also stopped the car mid-way, which made her feel unsafe. Though she was eventually dropped at her destination, the driver persisted in making advances, even giving her his phone number and asking when she would return to South Korea.

He also offered to drive her to Busan himself, again reiterating his inappropriate suggestion if she lacked money. In another unsettling exchange, the driver allegedly offered her a job, saying, “It’s not hard, you just need to clean rooms.”
Social Media Outrage
The tourist used the same ride-hailing app to report the incident and also issued a warning to fellow travelers about being cautious while taking taxis in South Korea. Her post has drawn massive attention, prompting outrage in both South Korea and Thailand, with people demanding strict action against the driver for his alarming behavior.
Hundreds of commenters have condemned the driver’s conduct, calling it shameful, dangerous, and a violation of a tourist’s basic safety and dignity.
