The attack happened after Cobos-Martinez became angry as Nagamallaiah had not addressed him directly but rather had passed the message through a female colleague, who acted as a translator.

The video evidence clearly shows Cobos-Martinez exiting the room, taking out a machete “from his person,” and attacking Nagamallaiah, according to CBS news.

“He chased him from 108 all the way to the office," another motel employee, who was also a witness, told police.

Nagamallaiah’s wife and son tried to help him but Cobos-Martinez pushed them aside and continued the assault, as per the police. Cobos-Martinez continued the attack on Nagamallaiah until the victim’s head “was removed from his body.”

Cobos-Martinez struck Nagamallaiah’s head twice into the parking lot before picking it up. He then carried it to a dumpster, and placed it inside.
