A nurse in Thailand experienced a heartbreaking tragedy when she stopped to help at the scene of a car accident, only to discover that the driver trapped inside was her own boyfriend. The incident occurred around midnight on September 6 on Highway 347 in Ayutthaya province, central Thailand, and has since sparked widespread sympathy online.

According to The Thaiger, a white Mitsubishi Pajero collided with an electrical pole in the Wat Toom sub-district at approximately 12:45 AM. The front and right side of the vehicle were completely destroyed, leaving the 42-year-old driver trapped inside the mangled wreckage.

Rescue teams from the Ayutthaya Ruam Jai Foundation and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital quickly arrived on the scene. Using hydraulic cutting tools, they worked to pry open the vehicle and extract the driver.

Nurse Arrives On Scene

At that moment, an off-duty accident and emergency nurse, who had just finished her shift at Ayutthaya Hospital, happened to be passing by. She stopped immediately to assist, not realising the victim was her boyfriend. The nurse acted out of professional duty, providing first aid and assisting rescue workers as they carefully worked to remove him from the wreckage.

Once the driver was extracted, the nurse continued to administer CPR in the rescue vehicle, attempting to resuscitate him during the journey to the hospital. Despite her efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim, a 42-year-old man, had come to the hospital earlier to pick up the nurse so they could return home together. They were travelling in separate vehicles, with him leaving about five minutes before she did. According to reports, she had not initially recognised the damaged vehicle as his, making the stop purely out of professional responsibility.

His body was later transferred to the Central Institute of Forensic Science in Pathum Thani for an autopsy.
