In a breakthrough, United States President Donald Trump on Monday said that Washington is holding talks with Tehran and there will be no attacks on the energy sites, including oil refineries. and gasfields for 5 days.
Trump said that both nations have been in talks for the past two days. He added that Washington agreed to halt the attacks on Iranian energy sites for five days.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, "I am pleased to report that the United States of America and the country of Iran have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East."
"Based on the tenor and tone of these in-depth, detailed, and constructive conversations, which will continue throughout the week, I have instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period, subject to the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions," he added.

Reacting to Trump's announcement, Iranian state media said that the US president backed down on his ultimatum.Iran's Fars news agency reported, citing an unnamed source, that there was no direct contact with Trump and "not even through an intermediary".
The report claimed that Trump had backed down after Iran strictly warned against targeting power plants.
The announcement comes as the deadline of his 48-hour ultimatum to Iran is set to end soon. He had threatened to "obliterate" Iranian power plants and energy infrastructures if it did not open the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran, in response, had vowed escalation, saying that it would close the strait completely instead and would attack all energy infrastructure in the region. Moreover, it warned of irreversible consequences in case of an attack by the US.
In the last statement, Iran also warned that it would mine the entire Persian Gulf if its coasts and islands are attacked.
