Trump Knesset speech: US President Donald Trump on Monday addressed the Israeli Knesset, calling the recent Gaza ceasefire and hostage release a “historic dawn of a new Middle East.” Speaking before lawmakers in Jerusalem, Trump said the two-year conflict between Israel and Hamas had reached a turning point, declaring a “long nightmare” now finally over for both Israelis and Palestinians.
Peace And Victory Over War
Trump highlighted Israel’s military successes and emphasised that the country had achieved all possible victories by force. “Israel, with our help, has won all that they can by force of arms. Now it is time to translate these victories into the ultimate prize, peace and prosperity for the entire Middle East,” he said. He urged Israel and the broader region to seize this moment to build lasting harmony.
The speech followed the release of 20 Israeli hostages by Hamas under the ceasefire agreement. Israeli authorities confirmed the safe arrival of all hostages, prompting celebrations at “Hostage Square” in Tel Aviv. In Gaza, hundreds of Palestinian prisoners freed under the agreement were welcomed at Nasser Hospital, marking the first phase of the truce.

He also praised Arab nations, particularly Saudi Arabia, for backing a future free from extremism. Trump encouraged all regional players to join the Abraham Accords, describing the initiative as a pathway to enduring peace.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke before Trump, expressing gratitude for the US President’s role in facilitating the ceasefire. “At the beginning of the war, I promised to bring all hostages home. Today, with the indispensable help of President Trump, that promise is fulfilled,” Netanyahu said. He hailed Trump as the most decisive American leader he had witnessed, capable of rallying global support for Israel.
Following his Knesset address, Trump will travel to Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, for a summit with more than two dozen nations focused on long-term stability in Gaza and the broader Middle East. While the first phase of the ceasefire has stabilized the situation, challenges remain, including Gaza’s governance and Hamas’s disarmament.
